What does family action do?

Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country. We have been building stronger families since 1869, and today work with over 60,000 families through our 200 community-based services.

What is a family action plan?

‘A child and family action plan identifies objectives and goals of intervention, details the interventions to be undertaken, and the roles and responsibilities of the child, young person and family and each of the organisations providing services to the family.

What kind of support does family give?

“Family Support” helps families access a broad array of supports and services, including formal supports (such as paid respite care) and informal supports (such as parent-to-parent connections) and a community system of services that promote the well-being of families and their children with special needs.

What is a family support team?

We are a community-based team that works with children: aged between 5-18 years who are resisident in borough. with a diagnosis of moderate to severe learning disability and/or autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with emotional, behavioural or mental health problems.

What is a care plan DCJ?

A care plan is used to formalise agreements between parties (usually between DCJ and parent/s or caregiver/s) and aims to address the risk of significant harm concerns affecting a child or young person. Care plans are made, as far as possible, with the agreement of the child or young person and their parents or carers.

How can we help family problems?

Suggestions include:

  1. Try to stay calm.
  2. Try to put emotions aside.
  3. Don’t interrupt the other person while they are speaking.
  4. Actively listen to what they are saying and what they mean.
  5. Check that you understand them by asking questions.
  6. Communicate your side of the story clearly and honestly.

How do you talk to someone with family problems?

  1. Let them know you are there. Lots of people can find it hard to open up about how they’re feeling.
  2. Support them to seek help. Supporting your friend or loved one to seek help can be really important.
  3. Don’t be critical.
  4. Think about what you say.
  5. Ask them what helps.
  6. Help them to plan ahead.
  7. Stay in touch.
  8. Look after yourself.
